After spending a week with friends in Queensland, Steve and Jackie flew to New Caledonia where, with a guide, they visited National Parks which were home to the unusual flightless bird, the Kagu. From there, they continued to New Zealand where, with help from locals, they saw four of the five species of Kiwi, as well as a number of endemic native birds. Back in Australia, after another week with their friends, they visited Tasmania and saw all of the twelve species of birds that are endemic to the island, as well as Tasmanian Devils, Quolls, Echidnas, Platypus and Wombats.
