The Olympic Anthem

By Zion Rose - Published on July 5, 2024
Using images as a literal study, this project is a compilation of negatives that trace the promise of an Olympic legacy; hundreds of tiny, undeveloped snapshots, documenting key individuals and locations in the 2016 citywide stage of Rio de Janeiro. Its purpose is to document the aftermath of this event. Although it shows the upkeep of architecture, city destruction and re-construction, the photographs were steps toward a conclusion that is still being written. The answer to an ongoing question which seeks to define the impact of the first Olympics held in the developing world: What is Rio’s Olympic Legacy?
