In 2022, Steve and Jackie embarked on a tailor-made birding trip to Suriname, organised by Naturetrek. They hoped to see, amongst many other species of bird, the Grey-winged Trumpeter which they were unfortunate to miss in neighbouring Guyana in 2019. This would complete a long-term project to see species from all of the 108 families of non-passerine birds. They were fortunate enough to have the services of two outstanding bird guides, Ashraf Tilburg and Rasool Boobo Ralfie Aseni both of whom had incredible field-craft and infectious humour, which ensured that a most successful and enjoyable time was had.
