In November 2014, Steve and Jackie embarked upon a trip to the Antarctic, run by the company Oceanwide Expeditions, on the ship Ortelius. They left from Puerto Madryn on the coast of Argentina, and headed for the Falklands. From there, they continued to South Georgia, before reaching the Antarctic Peninsula, where the ice was sufficiently forgiving to allow them to set foot on the continent. After visiting Deception Island and Half Moon Island, they crossed the Drake Passage to Ushuaia, where the trip ended. Before and after the trip, they took the opportunity to explore parts of Patagonia, as well as spending a short period in Buenos Aires.
