In November 2024, Steve and Jackie joined a Birding Ecotours trip on a comprehensive eighteen-day birding tour of eastern South Africa. Starting in Durban and finishing in Johannesburg, they visited, amongst other places, the Drakensburg Mountains, Lesotho, the wetlands around St. Lucia and the Kruger National Park. One of their targets was to find members of two families of birds, that would be new to them and which are endemic to the country, viz. Sugarbirds and Rockjumpers.
