BRAZIL AND ARGENTINA 2011

By Steve Edwards - Published on July 13, 2023
In August 2011, Steve and Jackie travelled to South America on a group trip with Naturetrek. The main focus was the vast area of unspoilt wetland in Brazil, known as the Pantanal. Here, they encountered such avian gems as Hyacinth Macaw, Sunbittern, Sun Grebe, Red-legged Seriema and Southern Screamer. From there, they moved to a more arid area north of the Pantanal, the cerrado, where there is a different community of birds. Finally, they flew to Foz de Iguazu, to witness the spectacular Iguacu Falls. Three days were spent on the Argentinian side of the falls, where the birding was also good, before concluding the holiday back in Brazil.
