Le Haut de la pile : a reading box for books lovers !

box-livre-2

Nowadays, people don’t take time to go to the bookshop and choose a book. Opening a book and being only focused on the story is not part of our everyday life anymore. This is why a new french start-up has been created. Le Haut de la pile was born from the wish of two young reading lovers : Xavier-Emmanuel Moreau and Zoé Cadé, who decided to take the crazy challenge of sending a reading box to their clients.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe concept is really simple. You just need to order a box and choose one of the booksellers on the website.  You can read their profiles and see which kind of book or authors they like. Then, you will receive one or a few book(s) (depending on which box you chose) thoroughly picked by the bookseller according to what you like. You will receive the box at home, and the only thing you will have to do will be to take time to read the book 🙂

Le Haut de la pile wants to re-create a relationship between the booksellers and the readers, and chooses to send only little-known books. This is a beautiful idea !

Emma printed her blog with BlookUp : her opinion

Emma owns a cooking blog. She shares all of her recipes with her readers. She chose BlookUp to print her blog and turn it into a book to keep all of her recipes.

  • Hello Emma, let’s introduce yourself !

My name is Emma and I work in the medical field. I love the Internet, it was made for curious people like me !

  • What is your blog about ? Why did you decide to print your blog ?

The story of my blook is kind of special. My blog actually doesn’t exist anymore. I created it ten years ago, because my friends and family always wanted me to share my recipes with them. Instead of writing it on a paper everytime, I thought it was a good idea to created a website. I actually wanted my friends to share their recipes too, so I gave them the login and pass words. But they never did it. Anyway, I decided to keep on sharing mine though.

  • How did you discover BlookUp ?

I discovered BlookUp on a blog post. I didn’t know it was possible to print your blog… and it was the perfect way for me to keep all of my recipes before my blog disappears !

  • What did you like about BlookUp ?

BlookUp interface is very easy to use. The final book is really beautiful and good quality !

  • What did your friends and family think about your blook ?

They loved it ! They think the idea of printing a blog is really nice, and they love to read my recipes on a real book instead of on the Internet.

  • This is not the first time you print your blog with BlookUp. Why did you chose to print it again ?

The only reason is… I have been asked to ! I printed 3 blooks for each fo my daughters and then I realized I forgot to print one for me ! Cooking with a book is definitely better than with a webpage. Then, my friends and family asked my to print one for them…

Story Pod : a new kind of library in Newmarket (Canada)

Last week, we discovered the Blook and Bed Hotel, a very original hotel based in Tokyo, where bedrooms are seperated by books. This week, we are going to Canada to discover an other original concept.

1

In Toronto (Canada), some people have created a library for the city of Newmarket. It is a big black cube which produces light by night thanks to the solar energy. During the day, this cube becomes a library which looks like a book. People can come over and read a book while sitting on the grass around. There are books for everyone : children, teenagers, adults… everyone will find what he wants.

This is such a good way to encourage people reading !

This tiny book is full of happiness !

This is the end of the week. The week-end is almost here, so we decided to share a lovely project with you.

The artist Evan made the tiniest book we have ever seen, untitled « The small pleasures of life ». The idea was to list all the little pleasures everybody can have in his everyday life : drinking a good coffee, reading a book, writing blog articles, watching the stars,… Every little pleasure, memory or feeling is summarized in a few words on one page, and illustred by a very simple drawing on the other page.

This is such a beautiful idea, full of happiness and poetry ! Every one should own this kind of book 🙂

A box full of books in the street (France)

Would you love sharing your books with others and discovering new books for free ? Well, this is possible ! In Moulleau, South of France, a box has been installed in the street. The concept is very simple : you put a book you loved (or not) in the box, and you can choose an other one and take it for free. The goal is to discover new authors or stories and to share with others.

livre blog

On the box is written : « Take the time to read… In this box, you can leave one or a few book(s) you loved. It is free access. Every one can borrow a book and read it on a bench before redepositing it in the box.”

The idea has been developed in other cities of France, and hundreds of people have joined the concept. If you are curious and like reading books, this was definitely made for you !

A short stories distributor in Grenoble, France

What an incredible idea ! The start-up Short Edition just launched its very new concept : a short stories distributor. Everyone can discover a short story just by pressing one of the 3 buttons. This is definitely a good way to enjoy your time while standing in line !

Of course, the start-up needs new stories everyday. It is the reason why a specific website has just been created. Every writer can share his stories… and it works ! Everyday, Short Editions receives hundreds of short stories and cartoons : a good way to supply the distributors.

The concept is being tested in Grenoble, France, with 8 distributors placed in different places of the city. We are pretty sure it is going to be a big success !

Turn your blog into a book

Nowadays, people are spending more and more time on the Internet. This is especially true for bloggers, who constantly share contents through their blog or social networks. But what if everything was suddenly lost ? How many months or years of work could disappear ? It is now possible to print your blog into a book to keep all of your contents safe and to share it with others.

Sharing is precisely what you can do with a blook*. You can share memories, moments, stories or photos with your friends and family without needing any computer, smartphone or Internet access. No need to be an Internet user anymore to read all of your articles !

Transforming your blog into a book is also an other way of discovering or rediscovering your blog. Reading a book is so much different than reading a page on a computer : it is more authentic. Moreover, bloggers don’t take the time to read their previous articles written months or years ago. Having all of them in one book makes it more simple.

With BlookUp, you can print your memories and share it ! Get your blook here.
